Dental Checkups & Cleanings

At the beginning of every checkup, we’ll inspect your teeth and gums for signs of damage, decay, or disease. We’ll take X-rays at least once every year to examine the hidden parts of your mouth, and we’ll always ask about any concerning symptoms that you’ve noticed lately. And of course, we’ll gently remove all the plaque and tartar that you’ve been unable to on your own while brushing and flossing.

Nightguards for Teeth Grinding/Bruxism

You may not be aware that you’re grinding your teeth at night at first, but we’re likely to notice the damage it causes while we’re checking your enamel. There are steps you can take to reduce this, but in the meantime, you should get a nightguard to protect your smile. Our nightguards are designed based on impressions of each patient’s teeth, so they fit more comfortably and act as an effective barrier in keeping them separated.

Fluoride Treatments

If you don’t drink enough tap water or don’t use an ADA-approved toothpaste, then you’re probably not getting a sufficient amount of fluoride. This means your teeth could be at a higher-than-average risk for cavities. We can give your smile an extra dose of fluoride towards the end of your preventive visits by applying it as a concentrated varnish or gel. The fluoride will help strengthen your enamel so that it doesn’t decay as easily.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Being told that you have cancer can be frightening, but it’s always better to get a diagnosis as early as possible. During every regular dental checkup, we’ll look for discolored patches, lumps, and other signs of oral cancer. If we find cause to be concerned, we’ll inform you right away and help you take the next steps. Having oral cancer treated quickly gives you the best chance of a full recovery.
